So, here we are. Cayman Islands. Davis tribe. Chosen...last.
It would seem like this would be a negative, yes? Easy target to pick off first, should the time come? It certainly would be easy to be nervous about it - my last 30 hours or so of inactivity meant that I couldn't interact with the other members of the game very much prior to the tribe pick, and I'm only just now getting to speak with members of my own tribe. No one knows how to look at me because they haven't experienced me quite yet.
But I choose to take this as a blessing. I wanted to start from the bottom from the time I applied to this game. My inexperience with this game should be quite the smokescreen, as I can use it to garner sympathy and appear weak. Then, when the time comes to make my power plays, none of them will see me coming.
As of now, I've began to speak with my tribemates one-on-one - a bit later than I would have liked, yes, but better late than never. So far, I've spoken with Shirin, Sash and Vince Sly, none of whom appear to be outwardly annoyed with my previous inactivity. All of them have welcomed me warmly, in fact, which is something else that I've hoped for. Some quick thoughts on each of them for now:
SHIRIN: Quite bubbly and upbeat, certainly an excellent person to welcome me officially to the tribe. She's quite easy to talk to, and is more than willing to answer my "silly questions" about the game. She's disclosed that she has quite a bit of experience with the game, although she has declined to say how well she's done - which makes me think that she's performed quite well. For now, I'm happy that she's on my side instead of with the Reads. It may only be Day 1, but I would be happy to consider her a future ally.
SASH: He had the gall to imply that my accent is fake! Ridiculous! Of all people, Sash should best understand the concept of duality, yes? Regardless, he too was welcoming and quick to forgive my lapse of experience. He hasn't been quite as warm as Shirin, and in fact seems a little more distant than both her and Vince Sly. Perhaps we've gotten off on the wrong foot because of the way I speak, yes?
VINCE SLY: He chose me last, and from the looks of it, he will be ranking me last or close to last for the upcoming challenge. Low expectations, alas, from our tribe captain. It would behoove me to prove myself in some fashion to him, as so far his words appear to carry quite a bit of weight with the rest of the tribe. I've explained my inexperience to him in another effort to ingratiate myself to him and stay off his radar, if I'm possibly on it. I would hope not.
As for the other 4, I have yet to speak with them, and I am unsure of where I stand with them. From the group chat, Morgan seems to be active in communicating. I will need to catch her when we're both available. I can't get a read on the others, though.
I'm looking forward to tonight's challenge, whatever it is. Time to truly start this game, yes?
(JFP or whoever the admin is, let me know if I should format these confessions in some fashion. I wasn't sure how they were expected to be formatted.)
