Today's challenge wasn't exactly ideal, was it?
It's bad enough that Davis is down to Read with Morgan's mutiny. But another round of Tribal Council isn't exactly a cure for that. Couple that with Morgan earning individual immunity on their side and me coming up short in the puzzle, and my game is looking quite ill.
I'm not a fool. I know I have reason to feel vulnerable at this Tribal Council, and it's not just because I don't have Coach's necklace around my own neck. If there is an alliance on this tribe that I'm not a part of, voting me out would be their easiest and surest bet. I've heard enough denials about its existence to cast doubt about its validity, but Morgan had no reason to lie to me on Day 7. I have to assume the worst case scenario until it's proven otherwise.
So what is there to do? Roll over as Vince did and accept that my torch is to be snuffed? Or fight back?
There's no decision. I'm going to do what I feel I do best: use my well practiced tongue to convince the rest of the tribe that Rodney is our biggest liability.
Why Rodney? Three major reasons:
Plus, there's that fourth, most important reason: it's him or me.
So to that end, I've brought up points 2 and 3 with everyone I've spoken to since the end of the challenge - Shirin, Hali, Coach and Sash, so far. If Rodney is to go, I need three of them to vote with me. I could also approach Whitney, but talking to her is rather like talking to a wall, and I can't trust her.
Coach is mulling it over, I think. I'm certainly arguing my case strongly. He did say that I was someone he would be interested in working with down the line...if that's true, he'll stop worrying about Hali going to the secret place over and over and vote for a clear and present liability to the tribe.
I have to wonder if Sash is seeing it my way or not. He hasn't given any good argument for anyone else. He's either smiling and nodding while sharpening his knife or he has no other targets. He did ask how the others are thinking, so he may just want to make sure he's on the majority.
Hali was a slam dunk. Our conversation lasted all of 2 minutes. I asked if she was nervous. She asked me the same. I said I was trying to sway Shirin and Sash to vote for Rodney. She immediately asked "inactivity?" and I knew we were on the same page.
Shirin is...nervous. It seems that Shirin and Rodney are closer than I expected, because she is very resistant to voting him out unless there's a majority at her back. She's stressed how hard it is for her to make the decision, insisting that she doesn't have any power. But she's wrong. Every vote is power, and her's would be especially powerful. She seems exceptionally loyal to those that show loyalty to her, and I've put 100% of my loyalty into her. She's not comfortable with Hali staying because she hasn't spoken with Hali like I have. Basically, I told her that if she trusts me as much as I trust her, she'll vote Rodney. I made the argument that she doesn't have to like Hali, or work with her - it's just as much about Davis keeping numbers as it is staying safe individually.
I'll keep hammering away at my points until everything looks like a sodding nail. I refuse to leave the Cayman Islands without a fight.

There's no decision. I'm going to do what I feel I do best: use my well practiced tongue to convince the rest of the tribe that Rodney is our biggest liability.
Why Rodney? Three major reasons:
- If there is truly a five person alliance, Rodney is part of it and I don't doubt that for a single second. I want to nip it in the bud as a possibility once and for all.
- Rodney's recent inactivity cannot be discounted if the time comes for a live challenge. If I end up surviving past this tribal stage, I don't want to picked off by a larger Read. If there's a live challenge and Rodney isn't around to help, what is the point in keeping him?
- Even in individual challenges, Rodney has not shone. My puzzle solving abilities are stronger than is, and I have no doubt I can also beat him in endurance. If I can do both of these things, I don't doubt the rest of our tribe can do so as well
Plus, there's that fourth, most important reason: it's him or me.
