We lost the challenge today to a game Read tribe. So much for keeping up momentum, yes?
I wasn't present for most of this challenge, since I was forced to sit out by our not so illustrious Captain. Imagine my surprise when I learn that we lost, and that Hali of all people did the majority of the work for our team?
I must say, I'm quite shocked Hali dug in quite this much. My impressions of her are still not very positive, to be fair - her lack of involvement in the first challenge was poor and her active involvement in this one got us sent to Tribal Council - and yes, she's still a negative presence to have around camp. AND she may have something up her sleeves from the Secret Area. But she's proven to be not quite as completely useless as I've come to expect. Good on her, yes?
Do I still want to vote Hali out? Yes, in time. But is this Tribal Council going to be the day it happens? I don't think it will be.
The last few hours at the Davis camp have been absolutely mad. The threat of Tribal Council has turned us all into Survivor players all of a sudden, and the information has been flying quite fast and furious.
This morning, I felt set on voting for Hali if we lost. Then she did most of the work for this challenge and made voting for her a foolish choice.
Two hours ago, I felt set on voting for Vince instead. Vince has shown through his actions that he doesn't think highly of me, given how I was chosen last for the tribe, ranked last for the first challenge in which I outperformed half of the tribe, and then chosen to sit out of this last challenge. He nearly cost us the first challenge with his inactivity and poor decision making, and then came up with the worst pirate motto in the history of pirate mottos. Coach was on board to vote him out. Shirin was undecided, but after I spoke with Coach I felt convinced that the majority of the tribe was voting Vince. So she was in for Vince as well. It felt quite wrapped up and simple. I was even writing a confessional to that effect.
Then Morgan spoke with me. Seriously spoke with me for the first time this game. And what she had to say certainly threw me for a loop.
Morgan told me that Sash had put together a five person alliance between himself, Coach, Rodney, Whitney...and Shirin. That made her, Hali, Vince, and myself on the outside looking in.
Unacceptable.
Morgan had no reason to lie to me, because it seemed the majority of the tribe really did seem to want Vince gone. She certainly swayed me when she let me know that she knew I had brought up her name as a possibility with Coach, which was the truth - I had confided in Coach that I was between Hali, Vince and her. I confessed that it was the truth, and she told me she didn't want Sash to be dictating the tribe. She asked for my vote.
What was I going to do, say no? Looking down the barrel of a majority alliance that you aren't a part of gets you to change your mind quickly. But if we wanted Sash gone, we would need to sway one of the other five to vote our way.
Naturally, I went to Shirin. Not only because I had trusted her strongly to that point, but also because I had a hunch that if there was a 5 person alliance, she wouldn't be near the top of it. I confronted her with what Morgan had told me, and she told me her side of the story: that Sash had not come to her personally about a 5 person alliance at all, and that it was Whitney that had told her that Sash wanted her in it. Shirin had expressed interest, but Whitney never got back to her about where she stood.
I made a point to Shirin that if Sash and Coach truly cared about her vote, they would have come to her directly. And I told her that there would be no chance that they would protect her in quite the way that I would. I made a hard sell to her - vote Sash with me, Morgan, Hali and Vince, and not only would she be on the majority, but she would have me watching her back for the rest of this game. And so she was in.
Most recently, I confirmed all of this information with Hali in the first game conversation I've had with her. It's bizarre to think that someone I wanted gone for the last few days is suddenly someone I'm depending on for a vote. But she is in as well after speaking with Shirin.
The only one I haven't spoken to in all of this? Vince, who has gone missing in this fallout. But certainly he knows that it's either him or Sash at this point.
Morgan. Hali. Vince. Shirin. Myself. That's five. That's a majority. That's what we need. Sash and Coach won't know what hit them.
Or this could all backfire and Shirin is playing me, and I'll have egg on my face.
We'll find out soon, yes?
